- The laser offers a unique opportunity to combine raster and
vector technology in one process. The raster side takes the
form of etching and enables bitmap and halftone images to be
transfered onto a surface. The vector technolgy can then be
used to cut out, slot or mark the material following any geometric
path.
- The working area of the cnc-router is much larger than that of the laser and it is more suited to producing complex components that fullfill a structural requirement. The routers do what routers do: profiling, slotting, pocketing, engraving and so on. By combining different cutting tools we can achieve specific edge conditions, mitre details, textures and repeat patterns.
- Typical materials for the laser are acrylic, wood, veneer paper, fabric,
rubber, leather and certain other thin plastics.
- Typical materials for the router include MDF, wood, plywood,
acrylic, polyurethane foam, modelboard(chemi-wood), styrene, ABS, Nylon,
Polycarbonate and many other laminate and sheet materials.
